15th Plugfest of the BIG-EU in Cologne – BACnet/SC implementations on the way up

Communication between BACnet/SC devices was exclusively on the agenda of the BIG-EU Plugfest, which brought together ten companies from the building automation industry in Cologne in mid-October.

Data security was the focus of the 15th edition of the Plugfest of the BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU) on 18th and 19th October, as the participants dealt exclusively with the particularly secure BACnet/SC components. Representatives from ten different companies focused extensively on testing their BACnet/SC extensions at the event at the University of Applied Science in Cologne. The technical management of the Plugfest was the responsibility of MBS GmbH, which also provided the network equipment for the event.

Since the last BIG-EU Plugfest in May, the number of BACnet/SC-capable devices has increased significantly. In the meantime, some devices have even been successfully tested and certified with BACnet/SC. Overall, according to the participants, BACnet/SC implementations have become much better and more complete. As at the previous Plugfest in May, on-site experiences led directly to product improvements in the connected devices.

The special thanks of all participants went to Prof. Dr. Jochen Müller from the TH Köln as host and to Horst Hannapel from MBS GmbH.
